This case study consists of a light and bright loft conversion, creating a large double bedroom with a spacious en-suite facility and a further single bedroom to a home in Horsham, West Sussex.
The alterations to the existing roof consisted of changing both hips to gables, including two 2.5m wide smaller dormers to the rear elevation; the original concept was three dormers to the rear elevation, but this took the external volume over 50m3, and we wanted to avoid having to apply for planning permission.

The house dates back to the circular 1950s and benefits from a very high loft space; the client wanted to achieve the feeling of space by including vaulted ceilings,
Vaulted ceilings help to enhance the look and feel of the interior and create a warm and welcoming space to relax in, with the proper selection of ambient lighting bouncing off the walls does create that wow factor.
High-level shaped windows and floor-to-ceiling roof lights added to the overall success. The master bedroom benefited from a private en-suite “No children please” that included a standalone bath – walk-in shower.
