The Project
Our clients commissioned ABM to design and build a simplistic contemporary extension to create a larger lounge/breakfast area and a comprehensive refurbishment to a home in Reigate, Surrey.
The extension was carried out under permitted development (4 meters deep and 7 meters wide); the design consisted of a flat roof that received a colour-coded fibreglass application, and internal box gutters were formed to channel the rainwater that, in turn, avoided the need for gutters that would have spoiled the contemporary clean roof line.

Unfortunately, Reigate council do not like flat roofs, even if it’s to the rear elevation, hence why we avoided applying for planning permission.
Horizontal cedar timber cladding formed the fascia, and a wide soffit/canopy provided some solar shade from the south-facing garden.
Folding doors were introduced to both sides. When fully opened, it allowed the garden to flow freely, achieving the free flow of light and ventilation, which earned a welcoming environment and space.
Underfloor heating was laid throughout, along with Hardwood plank flooring that prevented radiators from taking up valuable space.
Along with a fitted kitchen and a new family bathroom to the first floor.
