The Project

Mr & Mrs Miles invited ABM to supply an Architectural/Design and build a package to convert their loft space to their Victorian house in Horsham; their home was already spacious, but they wanted a separate floor to enable guests to use it when visiting.

Planning

Their conversion was able to be carried out under PD (permitted development); permitted development is a quicker way to build an extension to your home without the need to apply for planning permission and then be told by your council that they will not permit it (total waste of time) some conditions need to be adhered to if in doubt you may want to apply for a lawful development certificate. This Loft conversion consisted of a large double bedroom and a four-piece en-suite; the en-suite included a walk-in shower built adjacent to the chimney that runs throughout the roof; the chimney bricks were left unplastered, which provided a link between existing & new.

When you leave the ensuite, you will enter the spacious walk-in wardrobe fitted out with crown bedroom furniture, a glass partition wall separated the wardrobe from the bedroom, enabling the space to flow.

The double bedroom benefitted from high-level ceilings with exposed ceiling collars that provided that feeling of space; bespoke built-in draw units were cleverly placed within the eaves leaving the floor free from clutter. Thinking of a loft conversion be great to hear from you.
