ABM Build was appointed to undertake the complete transformation of a run-down bungalow on the outskirts of Horsham in West Sussex.
The original property was structurally unsound, outdated, and no longer suitable for modern family life. With over 90% of the existing structure demolished, this project was a full rebuild and redesign, replacing the old bungalow with a bright, energy-efficient, open-plan 3-bedroom home.
The homeowners came to us seeking a one-stop solution — a single company that could handle everything from architectural design and planning permission, right through to construction and internal finishing. That’s where our in-house design and build team stepped in.
Client Goals
The clients had a clear vision and specific lifestyle needs for their new home. Their goals included:

Our Solution: Full Design and Build Approach
We began the project with a site survey and consultation, followed by concept development through our in-house architectural design service.

With approvals in place, we moved into the demolition and build phase.
Demolition and Groundwork
Due to the poor condition of the existing bungalow, we demolished over 90% of the structure, preserving only a small portion of the original layout for compliance and efficiency. All groundwork was re-levelled and upgraded to meet current building standards.
We also improved insulation, drainage, and foundations in preparation for the rebuild — ensuring long-term durability and energy efficiency.

The finished 135m² home was rebuilt from the ground up and designed to support modern family life. The internal layout includes:

- Rear-facing glazing and garden access through full-width doors
- Dedicated utility space and integrated storage
Materials and Finishes
We specified clean, modern finishes with long-term durability in mind. External finishes included smooth render, dark window frames, and crisp roof lines. Inside, the open-plan living space is finished with modern flooring, energy-efficient glazing, and minimalistic LED lighting.
Every material choice was made in collaboration with the client to ensure budget alignment and aesthetic preference.
